Dear Johnny Boy.....hope things are going well, wherever you are, and we are sure that they are, knowing you....;-)....... one more year since you have left this world, we still think of you and mention your name and our adventures........ we all wish you were here sharing the good and the not-so-good of this world these days with us, but your optimism and attitude about life still have a good influence on us and have changed all us since then, we remember you always.....

Why this blog? - testo Italiano sotto

This Blog is to the memory of our friend John Conway Jones, an unforgettable character, a unique person, by all means, a friend to many, for several of us a member of our families.
He has seen us grow older, he has seen our kids being born, seen a lot happening while he also grew older, and through all this he was always there, his way, that we have all accepted and loved as such.

Then one day you wake up and John is no longer with us, and you realize how much we miss him.

Well, actually is not really "in memory of" because Johnny Boy has never left us, although on that grey Milanese morning, at sunrise of June 7 2008 his body has sat down, his heart stopped beating and never stood up again, but happy as he could be in the wee hours of the morning, outside one of "his" bars.
His spirit and presence are and always will be with the very many whose hearts and spirits he has touched, in Milan, Rome and all over the world.
We believe that he will be always watching us wherever he is, likely leaning his elbow on the Paradise Bar counter, where he would be cheerfully and pleasantly chatting about material and spiritual life, internet, animals, friendship, boose, women, work, football (mostly AC Milan), music (possibly Dire Straits and rock) and all the many subjects that Johnnie was interested in, with his wit and enthusiasm.

Believing that we would fulfill Johnnie’ s wishes and dreams, his closes friends are setting up a special charity fund on his name, so that all the donations and contributions to his memory are used as he would have wished, all documented and viewed by everyone on a regular basis. The charity funds will be used for orphanage help, adoptions, support to monks in Tibet and Nepal, humanitarian projects, etc., and all of these donations will be done on John’ s behalf and name. The blog will be able to receive donations and contributions during the year and for years to come, from everyone who will want to keep this fund alive and with it, Johnnie’s memory.

Who wishes to, can enter a comment on the blog to leave a little bit of you with him and receive news on what the "John Conway Foundation" will do in the future. Also, please feel free to send (johnconwayfriends@yahoo.it) any photos of Johnnie that will be added to the "slide show" you can see (and look in detail by clicking on it) on the upper right corner of this blog, to see again when we feel like, his moustached smiling face.

Thanks again to everyone on behalf of Johnnie who would have certainly wished that his friends would use their time and his “funds” for something positive, as he was and as we will all remember him for.

Questo Blog è in memoria dell'amico John Conway Jones, un personaggio indimenticabile, unico, in tutti i sensi, un amico di molti, una parte della "famiglia" di tanti di noi. Ci ha visti invecchiare, visto i nostri figli nascere, visto passare tanta acqua sotto i ponti, mentre anche lui invecchiava, e durante tutto questo e' sempre stato li', alla sua maniera, che abbiamo tutti accettato ed amato cosi'.

Poi un giorno ti svegli e John non e' piu' con noi, e ti rendi conto di quanto ci manchi.

Anzi, non è veramente "in memoria" perché Johnnie Boy non ci ha mai lasciato veramente, anche se in quella grigia mattina milanese all'alba del 7 Giugno 2008, il suo corpo si è seduto e non si è alzato più, il suo cuore ha smesso di battere di fronte ad uno dei "suoi" bar, ma felice come poteva esserlo John in quelle ore del mattino. Il suo spirito e la sua presenza sono e saranno sempre con i tantissimi cui ha toccato il cuore e lo spirito, a Milano, Roma, e in tutto il mondo.
Crediamo ci guardera' sempre, ovunque sia, probabilmente con il gomito appoggiato al bancone del Bar del Paradiso dove starebbe amabilmente, amichevolmente e piacevolmente discutendo della vita terrena, extraterrena, di internet, degli animali, dell'amicizia, di whisky e birra, di donne, di lavoro, di calcio (per la maggior parte del Milan), musica (possibilmente Dire Straits e rock) e di tutte quelle tante cose cui era interessato Johnnie, con la sua vivacita' ed entusiasmo.

Credendo di realizzare le intenzioni e i sogni di John gli amici piu’ stretti stanno istituendo uno speciale fondo di beneficenza intitolato a lui, per usare al meglio tutti i nostri contributi alla sua memoria e su questo blog si potranno vedere le iniziative che saranno realizzate con questi fondi, regolarmente.

Saranno offerte e beneficenza per orfanotrofi, adozioni a distanza, supporto a monaci del Tibet o del Nepal, iniziative umanitarie, etc., tutti fatti a nome di Johnnie, documentate e visibili sul blog. Il sito potra’ ricevere donazioni durante l’ anno e per gli anni a venire, regolarmente, da tutti quelli che vorranno tenere questo fondo vivo, e con esso la memoria di Johnnie.

Chi vuole puo' inserire un commento per lasciare un pezzettino di voi con lui e per ricevere news su quello che succedera' con la "fondazione John Conway". Potete anche inviare foto (johnconwayfriends@yahoo.it) che avete di Johnnie, che verranno aggiunte allo "slide show" che vedete in alto a destra di questo blog (visibile anche in dettaglio se cliccate sopra), e rivedere quando vogliamo la sua faccia baffuta sorridente.

Ringraziamo tutti a nome di Johnnie che sicuramente avrebbe voluto che i suoi amici usassero il proprio tempo e denaro per cose positive, come lo era lui e come lo ricorderemo, sappiamo che stai "da Dio" Johnnie !
